| This group of birds will not be found at any of the hides in
the isimangaliso birding route, as they are all ocean, off shore or Sub Antarctic birds.
If you want to be able to tick some of these on your life list, visit the Elephant Coast
area and take a deep sea fishing trip, or pay a little extra and hire a boat with a
skipper for the day. Taking a boat trip along the Elephant Coast of Umkhanyakude
district Municipality of KZN South Africa is always a rewarding experience as one often
encounters whales during the Months June to November. |
Mapelane, St. Lucia or Cape Vidal are all less than an hours
drive from Mtubatuba, and these well known holiday spots along the Elephant Coast of KZN
South Africa all have well used registered launch sites. The town of St. Lucia along the
banks of lake St. Lucia is the place to stay whilst in the area if you are into the
tourist thing, or you may stay at any one of the many Accommodation Establishments that suits
your life style and financial criteria. |

Well we all know that KZN (Kwa Zulu Natal) is too far north to have Sub
ant arctic birds in our region, but we do often get to see Ocean birds and Offshore birds
when taking a boat trip into the Indian Ocean from St. Lucia, Mapelane or Cape Vidal. |
