| The isimangaliso Birding Route will have many positive spin-offs for the local communities of The elephant Coast, the Greater
St. Lucia Wetlands Park and surrounding rural areas.
The major spin off that we envisage is job creation within the area especially the out skirts of the Greater St. Lucia Wetlands Park where the majority of the hides associated with the
isimangaliso Birding Route will be located |
The fauna and flora currently has no monetary value for the local rural residents on the out skirts of the Greater St.
Lucia Wetlands Park and these people have very little knowledge of tourism and its potential as an income generator.
The isimangaliso Birding route will change this perception and the fact that those who have no fauna and flora on their property will not be entertaining paying customers, will be one of the major
lessons that the local residents will need to learn. |
Once some of these rural people living on the out skirts of the Greater St. Lucia Wetlands Park start earning an income from tourism, and have cash to
spend within their respective communities we envisage that this will alleviate the high crime rate within the area.
We feel that this will influence others to join our imitative, and allow the project to grow with leaps and bounds. |
