There is currently no local knowledge base for birders and the birding community within Mtubatuba and surrounding areas. Birding within this area is not well advertised or marketed. The isimangaliso mini birding route will force the issue and hopefully create a platform from where a solid, reliable local knowledge base for birding in our area may be created and maintained.

The hide registers will form the core of our knowledge base, and this will be expanded on by those locals within the birding fraternity who wish to become involved. This is an ambitious project but it can  be accomplished if we can get tour operators, accommodation suppliers and other interested parties such as tourism associations and information centers to work together.
